Polarity Therapy

What is Polarity Therapy?

Polarity Therapy was developed by Dr. Randolph Stone (1890-1981), an osteopath, chiropractor, and naturopath who sought to integrate Eastern and Western approaches to healing modalities such as reflexology, acupressure, craniosacral balancing, yoga, and Ayurveda.Current research demonstrates that electromagnetic forces are the foundation of life, documenting what the ancients said about life energy, chi, or prana. This life energy weaves the fabric of our beings, creating the physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual dimensions in life. Disease, pain and stress are the results of underlying energy imbalances. Polarity Therapy improves the flow of energy in our bodies, bringing greater balance to the whole system.

Why do people get Polarity Therapy?

People use Polarity to relax and strengthen their wellbeing; reduce pain, anxiety, and fatigue; help manage symptoms; reduce side effects of medications; and support recovery after injuries or surgery.

Polarity Therapy is a good integrative therapy to try because people generally start feeling better very quickly with Polarity Therapy. As anxiety and pain lessen, and people feel hopeful about regaining their health, they feel more able to incorporate other needed health interventions or make needed lifestyle changes. Polarity Therapy often clears the mind, enabling patients to better evaluate the sometimes conflicting medical information being offered by various specialists, so they can make important treatment decisions with greater confidence. In this way, Polarity Therapy can help people become more actively involved in their own health.

What to expect during a Polarity Therapy Session.

A consultation will be taken on your first visit to establish an overall picture of your general health and lifestyle. You will then be asked to get comfortable on the massage table - after removing your shoes. As Polarity Therapy is exceedingly relaxing it is advisable to have a blanket over you as your core body temperature will drop and you don't want to get too cold during the session. Each session will be slightly different but usually starting at the head and moving around the body. Touch will either be non-existent or very light. You may experience sensations throughout the session - or - as in most cases - experience a feeling of total relaxation.
